Wassailing and Working

Our Wassailing event on Sunday (7th Feb) was a massive success.  Many enjoyed singing, touring the Orchard and drinking spiced apple juice!  The tradition of hanging toast in the trees was also great fun.  The day was commemorated by planting a new apple tree (Topaz).

Also, members of the South East Essex Conservation Volunteers awoke early to spend a day maintaining the Orchard.  They cleared litter from the site, cut back scrub/bramble and carried out hedgelaying (an ancient tradition).
