The South East Essex Conservation Volunteers had a great day at the Orchard today. They carried out hedgelaying, cleared encroaching brambles, picked up litter and ate chocolate biscuits! Well done to everyone who helped.
The group plans to have another Orchard work party in early 2017.
Apple Day 2016 was a great success. In total Trust Links raised nearly £500. More importantly, lots of people enjoyed St Laurence Orchard and had a lovely day out meeting old friends and making new ones.
One of our visitors particularly enjoyed exploring the fungi at our Apple Day. There’s lots of photos and info shared on his blog – https://arboriculture.wordpress.com/2016/10/08/ancient-orchard-apples-harvesting-fungi/.
The South East Essex Conservation Volunteers plan to carry out some hedgelaying at the Orchard next Sunday (27th November), meeting on site at 10.00am. Please feel welcome to join them and learn some new skills. For further information, please visit their website www.seecv.org.uk.
