We’ve a work party tomorrow (10th September 2018) from 10.00am to 2.00pm. Please feel welcome to join us.
We’ll be trimming paths, clearing around trees, cutting back nettles, tidying entrances and harvesting windfalls.
Drinks and biscuits provided. You may even get some apples to take home!!
Well done to everyone who worked at the Orchard today.
Despite the warm weather, paths were cleared and nettles/brambles cut back. Encroaching vegetation around our banner and fence was also removed.
There were a number of butterflies (e.g. Peacock) that we enjoyed spotting. We were also delighted to see that there is plenty of fruit forming on the trees. We look forward to harvesting later in the season.
Well done to everyone who volunteered at yesterday’s work party.
We planted some rowan trees, released a very old tree from ivy and carried out the usual path/litter clearance.
Next work party is on Monday 2nd July. We look forward to seeing you then.
Thank you to everyone who attended the work party today. There were eleven happy workers!
We mowed and cut paths, cleared around trees and chopped down some very tall nettles. Well done everyone!
We’re looking forward to our next work party on Monday 11th June.
Thank you to everyone who helped at yesterday’s work party. We were blessed with perfect weather following a very snowy week!
We cleared paths and around trees, cut back growth overhanging the grass verge and picked up lots of litter (unfortunately!).
We’re now looking forward to our next work party on Monday 14th May.
You’re invited to our work party on Monday 5th March. The snow should have melted by then …
We’ll be on site between 10.00am and 2.00pm. Please wrap up warm and bring along a packed lunch. Hot drinks and biscuits will be available. All tools provided.
Activities will include clearance around trees and cutting back growth that is overhanging the fence boundary.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Thank you to everyone who attended our Wassailing Event last Sunday – it was a great success!
We sung, paraded around the Orchard, put toast in the trees, drank spiced apple juice and chatted in the winter sun.
We also planted a crab apple tree (with mistletoe) and hazel. We look forward to watching these grow.
Thanks to everyone who worked at the Orchard today. We mowed paths, cleared around trees and prepared the Orchard ready for Wassailing on Sunday 28th January (2.00pm – 3.30pm).
We have a crab apple tree ready for planting then – please come along and join us. Sample spiced apple juice, join in the traditional folk music and enjoy the Orchard surroundings.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
Thanks to the South East Essex Conservation Volunteers who worked at the Orchard today.
They carried out further hedgelaying, extended the dead-hedge and collected two large bags of litter!
Unfortunately the ongoing sleet prompted an early finish. Hopefully the weather will be better for Wassailing next Sunday (that’s 28th January 2.00pm – 3.30pm).
We’re having a work party at the Orchard on Monday 22nd January (10.00am to 2.00pm) in preparation for Wassailing on Sunday 28th January.
All welcome, there will be a variety of tasks available. Or you may just want to pop by and take some photos …
Tools, hot drinks and biscuits provided – the gate will be open ready for you then!
